Service Description

For improvisers looking to be bolder in their craft, this class dives deeper into foundational improv concepts, expanding on creating in collaboration with others with a focus on what makes a good scene. Through exercises and games, students will come to understand the building blocks of a scene and how to implement them, while continuing to gain a fuller understanding of the improv basics learned in the previous class. This class will explore and expand on concepts like “Yes, and,” storytelling, thinking quickly, scene work basics, miming, active listening, character development, and stage presence. Students will complete this class with an understanding of what makes improvisation successful (and fun!), and the tools to make improvised magic happen! This class will culminate in a showcase performance. Class: Thursdays 5:00 - 7:00PM | April 10 - June 5 (No Class May 22) Showcase: Sat. June 7, 5PM Instructor: Brian Prerequisites: Completion of Level 1. Note: Must be 18 or older to attend this class. About the Instructor Brian Grote has been performing at the Upfront since 2018. He has been amazed by the transformation improv has created in his own life and wants to share his knowledge and love for improvising with others, so they can unlock the enchantment and whimsy of this craft.
