Service Description

Class: Intermediate Spontaneity, Level 2 Dates: Wednesdays, October 23- December 18; no class Nov. 27th Time: 6- 8pm Showcase: Saturday, December 21st at 5pm Instructor: Brian Grote Prerequisites: Completion of "Intro to Spontaneity," or written permission from the education director. Note: Must be 18 or older to attend this class. Through exercises and games, students will come to understand the building blocks of a scene and how to implement them, while continuing to gain a fuller understanding of the improv basics learned in the previous class. This class will explore and expand on concepts like “Yes, and,” storytelling, thinking quickly, scene work basics, miming, active listening, character development, and stage presence. Students will complete level 2 with an understanding of what makes improvisation successful (and fun!), and will walk away with the tools to make improvised magic happen! This class will culminate in a student showcase, Saturday, December 21st at 5pm. About the instructor: Brian Grote has been performing at the Upfront since 2018. He has been amazed by the transformation improv has created in his own life and wants to share his knowledge and love for improvising with others, so they can unlock the enchantment and whimsy of this craft.
