Improv 500 – Improv Performance & Feedback | Spring | Wednesdays
This improv class will focus on building a safe environment where everyone learns a common language from which to give and receive notes. Scenes will be discussed and direct peer to peer notes will be given immediately after each scene concludes. Notes will be given with the intent of being as specific as possible so that we can identify the things that worked and those that didn’t work within each scene.
Scenes will also be video recorded periodically during the session so performers can both self-assess their improv and process the notes they are given by their peers. These videos will not be posted to the internet and will only be used for the purposes of refining and improving performance skills during the class. No personal copies will be made of the video files and no personal recordings by phone will be allowed during the session to maintain a safe and supportive environment.
A variety of improv formats will be used during the session including but not limited to: Games, Open Scenes, Monologues, and Harolds. Some basic familiarization with these types of improv performances is highly recommended. Classes will be performance driven and minimal warm-ups will be done in an effort to maximize stage time. Class size will be limited for this course so early sign up is encouraged.
