Frequently Asked Questions

What is it that you do?

The Upfront Theatre is a professional organization that provides innovative, high-quality performance and education rooted in the art of improvisation. Guided by the core values of improv, we commit to continually push the boundaries of our craft while exploring the comedy and truths of the human experience.

Will Ryan Stiles be there?

While Ryan is the owner of The Upfront – we rarely (if ever) know when he will drop in for a show.  If we are able to confirm with him that he will be performing we try to announce it on our email newsletter (you can sign up for it at the bottom of this page).

When are your shows?

Thurs/Fri/Sat nights, typically at both 7:30pm + 9:30pm.  We have specialty performances pop up outside of those dates/times, so please check our full calendar to see what’s coming up!

How do I buy tickets?

Advance tickets are available online or the night of show at the theatre (if available). We advise purchasing online, so you have them secured AND it’s usually a buck or two cheaper to buy them online versus onsite on the night of the show (yay for planners!)

When are you open?

We have office hours Monday – Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm.  On show nights the box office opens 45 minutes before show time. (ex. open at 6:45pm for the 7:30pm show)

Are there any age limits for who is allowed to attend?

While the content we produce is fully improvised, we strive to keep all of our shows universally funny.  We are an all-ages venue (so yes, minors may attend) and our show content is typically within the PG to PG-13 range.

Do I need to print out my tickets I bought online?

Nope!  Once you purchase tickets online, you’re added to our will-call list for that night.  All you’ll need to do when you come down is give us your name, and we’ll take it from there!

What if I can't make it to the show I bought tickets for?

While we understand that life happens, our policy is that there are no refunds or exchanges on ticket purchases.  If there is an emergency that pops up, please contact our office before the show and we’ll see what we can do.

Do you sell gift cards? How do I use them?

Gift cards are available for purchase here on our website!  Unfortunately, we no longer sell physical gift cards, but the digital ones are great for personal use or gifts. Gift cards are only good toward admissions/ticket purchases. Click here to buy a gift card —> this is the gift card link

Where are you located?

We’re located in the heart of downtown Bellingham’s Arts District.  Our address is 1208 Bay St, Bellingham, WA 98225

Do you have a parking lot?

We do not have a designated parking lot for our patrons.  Street parking is free after 5pm on weekdays and free during the weekends.  There is also the Parkade (parking garage) located at the intersection of Holly and Commercial St.  That parking garage has the same payment hours as street parking (aka free at night).  There are some private lots around the theatre that to require payment/permits 24/7 – we don’t know those peeps though.

When do doors open for the shows?

45 minutes before show time (ex. 6:45pm doors for a 7:30pm show)

Can I reserve seats?

Nope.  All of our shows are general admission seating.  We recommend arriving when doors open so you can have your pick for seats.

I'm funny - can I do this?

Awesome.  Probably – maybe – we’ll see.  The best way of finding out, is by enrolling in our School of Improv.  We offer classes year round for all ages and experience levels!

Three times a year, we have auditions for our Satellite Ensemble (farm team).  If you’re interested in finding out when those are, sign up for our email newsletter.
